Where are they now??

In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout and Jem have inherited a legacy of values from their father, as did many other people in Maycomb County.

Project the characters into the future, 10 years after the novel has ended.

Ask yourself: Where have they ended up? What lessons have they learned? What have they chosen to do with their lives? How have their past  experiences affected their future?

Guidelines:
·         Use whatever tone/tense you would like
·         Discuss at least 3 characters from the novel
·         Select a style to write in: the point of view of a particular character, a dialogue, a letter, a journal entry, a newspaper article, or basic paragraph form.
·         Should be at least 2 paragraphs in length

  1. Olivia Barbulescu Period 7- In ten years, Jean Louise Finch, or Scout, has grown up to be a successful writer. She has learned to not let people influence her decisions from her father, which helped her later on in life when she decided to try to become a female journalist. While her father, a well-recognized lawyer, supported her not everyone in her family accepted her goals. Aunt Alexandra wanted her to stay home from college and just be a stay-at-home mother and Maycomb lady. Jean Louise went through college and is aspiring to be not only a journalist but a novelist as well. By growing up in the South during racist and discriminatory times, she has learned to accept all types of people.
Jeremy Finch, or Jem, became a successful lawyer, following in his father’s footsteps. He aims to defend people of all races, and has won a couple court cases for black men. From growing up and witnessing Tom Robinson be found guilty when he was so obviously innocent has inspired Jeremy to attempt to ensure African-Americans with equal trial rights. His father taught him to have an open mind and see all people equally, which has made him into an amazing lawyer.
Miss Maudie Atkinson still lives across the way from Atticus Finch in Maycomb County, Alabama and acts like a mother to Jean Louise and Jeremy. Miss Maudie openly campaigns for women’s rights due to being inspired by the Tom Robinson trials. She believes that all races, religions and genders should be seen as equal, and hopes that one day, other people will agree with her views.

In ten years from now, I can see Scout "Jean Louise Finch" as being a happily married girl. I think she'd explore more places outside of the small county of Maycomb she grew up in. She will be adventurist because she grew up like that and now there is no one to stop her from being her. Even though Aunt Alexandra wants her to be very lady like I think she will be but also have that tom boy side to her throughout her whole life because its how she likes to be because its who she is. She will probably end up going to college too and become a writer of her beliefs and politics.
When Jem grows up in 10 years he will be a lawyer. Just like his father whom he always looked up to and how his father defended Tom Robinson really showed Jem the capability of a real man with inner body strength and his father is such a role model that any boy would want to grow up to be like him.
In 10 years I think Boo Radley will be out of his house and helping the people of Maycomb because people will find out about his heroic move of saving Jem and Scout by killing Mr. Ewell. Boo will realize that he can overcome challenges and not be afraid of reality because he has been inside that house for such a long time that he will see the good in life again and want to live it all as much as he can.

Jem: In 10 years, I see Jem following in the footsteps of his father, only because Atticus was his only support system and someone he looked up to and learned from. I can see Jem as a strong young man, happily married to a great girl, he will probably pursue a career as a lawyer like Atticus and have a strong say in society and have an impact in it as well. Some lessons that Jem has learned is how to become a real man and a smart and successful person from watching his father experience life.

Scout: I can see Scout in 10 years as a lady-like yet very strong and intelligent women who has a very successful career, I can also see her and Boo Radley become very good friends and become close. As far as lessons go, Scout will grow up with life lessons such as learning to fight with your mind and not with your hands, I also think she will take a lesson taught to her by Aunt Alexandra, which was to become more lady-like, and Scout will use it in a good way.

Dill: I think that Dill will not be married but be a very nice and friendly man. I think that he will still be very close with Jem and Scout and he will learn from them and their experiences. I can imagine him as one of those guys who always bring back memories of their childhoods and make everyone laugh.

From their father, Atticus Finch, Scout and Jem have bothed learn important lessons about life. They have learned from his experience of defednding Tom Robinson about the importance of not harming innocent people and defending your own moral regaurdless of what other people think or say. The kids also learn the horrors of life like predjusim and racial desrimination. Most of all they learned that the only way to understand someone is to put themselves in their shoes and try to see things how the other person sees the situation. Growing up with an open minded father helped Atticus and Scout be first hand witnesses on what internal strength is and how to exercise it.
Due to these lessons Jem learned I think that Jem will become a laywer because protecting the innocent and serving justice has become so important to him. For exmaple, Jem is sure that Tom Ribonson will be not guilty because it is so clear to him that he didn’t do anything wrong so he should not be punished for it. Also, the fact that Jem respects and looks up to Atticus so much will influcence him to become a lawyer because he wants to be like his dad when he grows up. I think that Scout will use her knowledge and become a teacher. I think this because whether she knows it now or not, she enjoys learning new things. Scout is very comfortable around people and would be a good teacher because she is full of ideas. She has learned to let other people bring her down so once she wants to pursue something, she is fully capable of pursing it.

I believe that Jem has followed in his father's footsteps because he is so inspired and influenced by him in being a successful, strong, and smart lawyer. I believe that Jem has also inherited his fathers values and learned to maintain morality even if it may go against what everyone else thinks. Ten years later, I believe that Scout is working at such a job that requires strength, and knowledge, both skills she acquired from her father and excelled in. I believe that Scout has learned that when dealing with your feelings and emotions, not to use violence, but using her voice and her knowledge to help and solve problems she ends up in. I believe that Jem has chosen to follow in Atticus's footsteps because he wants to be that person that is honorable and that his children and the rest of the town can look up to and admire.
I believe that Jem wants to be as good of a role model that Atticus was for him, for his children too. I believe that even though Scout has been beaten down both mentally and physically, she knows that the values that Atticus has kept close to her were important, so I believe she will excell in knowledge and strength mentally in order to honor her father and his influence in her. I believe that when Atticus defended Tom Robinson in front of the disapproving town, he continued because he knew that it was the right thing to do whether or not people agreed with him. I believe that the way the black community and the Robinson family treated Atticus with praise and honor allowed Jem and Scout to appreciate that what he had done was right, and that Atticus was sacrificing himself for someone else. I believe that Jem wants to carry out his honor to inspire someone elses lives and his children like Atticus has inspired both Jem and Scout. I believe that Scout being told that she wasn't supposed to act a certain way based on her gender has taught her that girls are just as capable or even more than a man is of achieving good things. Atticus has also taught her to use her knowledge for good and not be physical in solving her problems. These experiences has helped both Scout and Jem for the better.

Scout: i can see scout in 10 years being a mom with 2 kids. i think she is going to be a lot more lady like and a very strong and independant women. she will have kids because she was very close with her brother jem. everything she did involved her brother and i think she would want to have the same for her kids.

Jem: i picture jem in 10 years being a married man with 2 kids alike with scout. he will have kids because he was very close with his sister. i also picture him being a strong and wise man. he is going to be just like his father atticus because he looked up to him as he grew up. his father taught from example and thats why i think jem is going to be like this. lasty i think jem wont be a lawyer but he will be a very opinated man who stands up for what he beleives in just like his father was.

Dill: in 10 years i picture dill being a lonely man but still staying close with his childhood love scout. i dont think he will be as close with jem as he was when he was a child. i also picture dill getting his chompers fixed because they look horrible. lastly i think dill is going to move out of maycomb and go explore the world.

Scout: In 10 years I see Scout being an independent and successful woman. I believe that she came to understand what the world is really like, and has become less naive then she was during her childhood. I can also see Scout having a successful career, a family and instilling good values into her children like Atticus had done for her and Jem.

Jem: 10 years later I believe Jem would be a lawyer, just like his father Atticus was. He would believe that all people are equal and everyone should have the same rights. Jem may even “specialize” in race or discrimination cases. I also see Jem and Scout remaining close to each other as they did when they were growing up. Jem would possibly be married and have a family of his own, and be a father that his kids can rely on and look up to.

Boo Radley: Eventually everyone in town would find out that Boo was the one who had killed Bob Ewell, and they would see that Boo isn’t a bad person. Once people realize this in 10 years or so, I can see Boo coming out of his house and being part of the town just like any other person. Maybe he would possibly help the town out when needed. Overall Boo would be more accepted by the people of Maycomb County and he wouldn’t be judged from things done in his past.

In 10 years Jem is like his father. He will be a successful lawyer and have his own family. I think that he will move from the small town of Maycomb when he gets older as well. I think that he will teach his children the valuable lessons that Atticus taught him and Scout. I think that he and Scout will stay close after all that they have been through as kids.
Scout in 10 years will be a successful women that may be married to Dill. I think however she will be independent and not rely on others for help. I think she will also bring up a successful family and teach her kids the same way that Atticus taught them. I think she will stay close to Maycomb or not even move at all.
In ten years, Boo Radley has come out of his home and becomes friends with the Finches and the town ends their rumors and prejudices against Boo. He and Jean Louise Finch will become good friends and she will help to get him back into the world. Although Boo will never move from Maycomb, he will be different and be more comfortable coming out of his house since he now has more friends in the town he lives in thanks to Scout.

  9. Nick Falciglia Period 3 -

Ten years after the novel takes place, I could see Jem and Scout as a grown, intelligent man and woman who see the world differently then others. They were taught things as children that many other children weren't taught. Atticus raised Scout and Jem as if they were adults. I think the both of them would become very successful due to the past experiences and situations that they have dealt with as children. Atticus teaches them not to take things for granted and not harm what will not harm you.
Ten years after the novel takes place, I think Boo Radley will become Maycomb County's new hero. He saved two children from Bob Ewell who attempted to kill them. Boo has been locked up in his house for most of his life and he finally comes out to do something good instead of bad. Everyone in the town looked at him as a mischievous, scary man who did all the crimes in Maycomb, but after this conflict I think they will look at Boo differently

I see Scout Finch as the same independent, free spirit in ten years, though her day to day life has changed. She has continued to be an avid reader and makes a living as an author of short stories. This allows her creative mind to continue blossoming, even as she gets older. She lives Atticus’s lessons by being herself and not being swayed by ignorance.

I have no doubt that Jem would follow in Atticus’s footsteps and become a lawyer. His willingness to fight for justice would be put to good use in front of a jury. His sharp mind would think of new ways to coax the truth out of whoever is at the witness’ stand.

In ten years, I would imagine Dill as an author as well, since he’s so good at making up and telling tall tales. He and Scout would still exchange thoughts and knowledge, as well as gossip as they did when they were younger.

Jem will have become a coach for a football team in the south. He has so many connections to Maycomb he would not like to leave, always being there to know of any event that would happen. Also to take care of his aging father. His ambition, like his fathers will lead him to success. He will not play due to his size but will have influence on the team.

Scout will have become a teacher and stay in the south like her brother to take care of her father. She will not be married immediately because of her personalty. She will eventually become a wife by influence of her Aunt. She miss the adventures of childhood, watching children play and baking cakes with the recipe that Miss Maudie gave her.

Finally Dill will move from Meridian to be with his childhood friends and become the town sheriff. He would tell lies of adventurous tales, going through the west and catching bandits. He would do this to get the attention his ego needs.

In ten years, Jem Finch will be an activist fighting for equal rights for African Americans. After witnessing the in justice Tom Robinson had to face, Jem was very disturbed and upset. He will be a liberal and taking on the internal strength of his father, Atticus. Jem will work to change the lives of African Americans everywhere and help them through their rough patches in society like Atticus did when he took on the job of defending Tom in is court trial.
10 years after the novel ended, Scout will be in high school still remembering to fight with her mind instead of her fits. She will have the qualities of an independent woman with dreams and expectations. As a child, Scout wasn't the typical girl so when she is older, Scout will challenge the stereotype views on how a woman should act, feel, and what their place in society should be. She will fight for more rights in the workforce and will grow to be a feminist.
In the future, ten years after the novel ended, Boo Radley will still be a hermit in his home. He will never get the courage to come out everyday, but will come out of his home every once in a while. People will learn to accept is life style and will acknowledge him more. Boo Radley however, will be a close friend to the Finch family especially to Scout.

  13. Carlye Uretta Period 4- In 10 years Atticus Finch will be retired from his job as working as a lawyer. He will be living with Miss Maudie due to the fact of her house burning down. Their relationship will have grown strong and they will have become very close. Aunt Alexandra will have moved out of the Finch house and gone back home to just be an everyday person and not have work. She will take care of her house by herself and live alone. Jem will have gotten a job as a therapist because he is able to understand people and is able to connect to them easily.

Scout will have matured and grown into a young women and is no longer called by Scout. She is called by her real name and is still very adventerous and will write about her adventures from wherever she is. Boo Radley will come out of the house and realize that the world is not as bad as as he really thinks it is, he will pursue a job as a police officer because he is very good at protecting people and does what needs to be done as well as does the right thing. He will be a close friend to the Finch family and will be very close to Scout, he will have met Jem and they will be very close too. Calpurina will have left the Finch house but is still very close with the family she will have a job as a cook and will be back into her old culture at the church.

In ten years from now, Jeremy Finch, or Jem, will be a successful lawyer after following the foot steps of his father. He was inspired by Atticus and has learned a lot from him. Due to being exposed to Tom Robinson's case and his emotional reaction, he is a liberal person and will always do what he feels is right. Jem's father taught him to have an open mind and have different perspectives on things which helped make him a very intelligent and effective lawyer.
Jean Louise Finch, or Scout, will be a very successful teacher in ten years. She will stay in the south to be near her family. She became a teacher because she enjoyed reading and writing and was very good at it. She will handle her students better than her teacher, Ms. Caroline did. Scout will remain friends with Boo and introduce him to Jem and Dill. Dill will move to Maycomb to be with Scout. They will get married and have children who will learn important skills from their parents as Scout did.

  15. Michelle Aguirre per.3- In ten years, Jem and Scout will have been grown up and matured. First of all, their society will have changed. Racism would get more and more taken care of, improving the lives of African Americans. Atticus will have grown to an old wise man living by himself peacefully. He was highly respected by everyone in his community and made many proud. He inspired Jem and Scout to fight for what they believe in. Jem will have decided to pursue a career in law, following the footsteps of his father. He will have grown to be a mature and proper young man. He will be very brave and take on every challenge with his “head up” and with his own will. Scout will have grown up into a strong and outgoing young girl. She never became the girly-girl Aunt Alexandra always pushed her to be but she became a girl Atticus became very proud of. She was still her curious and adventurous self, always trying to find answers and taking big risks.
Jem and Scout developed a very strong relationship as siblings, having the pride of their father to connect with. The trial became a turning point in their lives, a moment of impact that would affect their personalities. Their father’s achievements inspired them to stay true to yourself and what you believe in and to stand up for what you believe is morally right. Jem and Scout always depended on eachother, but as they grew they became idependent, wise individuals.

In ten years, i could see Jem and Scout being people who are strong and powerful minded and believe in equality for all like they do now.
I think Jem in ten years would be a lawyer just like Atticus, his father. Jem always has always been influenced by Atticus to do the right decisions and be a good role model for Scout. Jem is never afraid to say what he wants and stick up for himself or others. His true feelings on society will influence his career as a lawyer.
In ten years, i think Scout would be a writer, writing about society and her personal strong beliefs on society. She will use her voice powerfully in her writing and speak her mind truthfully. Growing up through a tough time with discrimination towards black people and watching the court case of Tom Robinson, she will use her experience to motivate her forward.
In ten years, i think Mayella will be a lonely and depressive girl because of her past. She dealt with a lot with her father and money issues, and will probably be helped with raising her siblings since her father is gone. She will not be married.

In ten, Jean Louise Finch will be a succesful author towards the world making a book called To Kill Mockingbird. The book will be given a Pulitzer Award and will be published in 1960. She moved to New York instead of Maycomb, Alabama to be inspired in 1943. She will be married to Dill and gruadate at Oxford University. After they were married they moved away to London and still live there today.

Jem will be a successful lawyer following Atticus footsteps in Maycomb, Alabama. He graduated at Harvard and did his grad-school there. He is taking caring of his father and has two kids. He will not let go of Maycomb because that's where his mother died. Boo Radley is a police officer at night, but during the day he is a father with two kids. Aunt Alexander is now a part time nurse.

In ten years, I can see Jem being just like his father, Atticus, and following in his footsteps to become a lawyer. Jem will live in Maycome still where he grew up and be very successful. In the book, "To Kill a Mockingbird" Jem always is very influenced by his father. For example, Jem always sticks up for himself and isn't afraid of his society and where he lives. Jem is also never afraid to say what he wants to say in his environment he is living in. In ten years, Scout "Jean Louise Finch" will become a successful woman. Scout will be very independent just like she was when she was younger in this novel. For example, Aunt Alexandra would always tell Scout to be more like a lady and be respectful and wear what woman would wear. Scout would never let that bother her and she would just continue on living how she wants to and being who she wants to be and believing in herself. I can see Scout as a writer who will become very famous and will be a mother of a few kids and grow a nice and happy family. In ten years, I can see Mayella being either alone with no parents and no family, how she lived when she was younger as a kid. I can also see Mayella becoming famous and believing in herself to start a new family and change her ways from how she was in her past. Mayella will go to school and graduate and start her new life.

In ten years, I see Scout doing something important and successful with her life, like her father, Atticus. I picture her being respectful, and more mature than she was as a kid. She takes after Atticus and has the same beliefs as him, and will raise her children how Atticus raised her and Jem. Her children will not be racist or disrespectful in any way, even though she grew up in a town that was.
In ten years I also see Jem following after Atticus, and being a lawyer, or anything successful. I see him being strong and having a good sense of himself. I can picture him being married and having kids. His kids will be angels and exactly like he was when he was a kid, respectful and accepting. He will be the man of the house. I also see Dill having a perfect family in ten years. He always wanted a loving family, and being married with kids is exactly what he needs. I see him raising his children and them going on adventures together and having fun everyday. Dill would make a good parent, because as a kid he never had his parents attention or love.

In ten years, Jean Louise Finch or more commonly known as Scout will be fighting for the rights of African Americans. I think that because she has learned great values from her father’s example and she knows how to express her opinions. She isn’t shy even in situations when most children would feel awkward. She will grow into a successful activist that will aid in getting rights for all groups that need it. By growing up in a small, racist town in the South, she has seen discrimination of all kinds. Scout has personally discriminated against Arthur, or Boo, Radley and these lessons from her childhood will help her later in life and inspire her to stop discrimination.
Jeremy Atticus Finch, otherwise known as Jem will grow up to be a lawyer just like his father. If his name wasn’t enough, Jem strived to be like his father as a child. He knew that his father stood up for what he believed in and fought with words rather than physical action. It seems that Jem had similar beliefs as Atticus and probably wanted to follow in his shoes. I think that Atticus may have started a long line of lawyers in the Finch family. Jem would be a good lawyer because as he matured, he became good with using his words. When he was young, he fought with others but as he grew up he learned to use his words and not take offense when people had opposing opinions.

Scout: In 10 years I imagine Scout going to college where she will learn to become a teacher. She is a smart kid and can teach other kids that reading is a good thing, unlike Miss Caroline who wanted Scout to stop reading. Scout really knows how to treat people. When Boo was at her house at her house she talked to him nicely and tried to make him feel comfortable. I think that Dill and her will to continue to get closer in their relationship and actually start dating and eventually get married. She will probably grow up to have respectable kids.

Jem: In 10 years I see Jem on a path to becoming a lawyer just like his father. Jem and Atticus share many similarities. During the trial, Jem paid much attention and understood what was happening. Just like his father he wished that Tom Robinson would win the case. Jem will be a great lawyer, winning many cases. He could even become a better lawyer than his father.

Boo: In 10 years I believe that Boo would finally leave his house. He will be pretty old by then but I think that he will find a nice woman who likes him for the person he is inside. Not what people said he was. When he comes out all the people of Maycomb will be able to see that they were wrong about Boo. People will begin to call him by his name. Arthur. Him and Scout will probably begin a lifelong lasting friendship and he will meet Jem and Dill. They will all be very close friends.

Jem- In ten years i see jem being just like his dad and becoming a lawyer, especially after being inspired by the Tom Robinson case. He, just like his dad, wanted Tom to be free and to not be wrongly convicted, so i think that because of that, jem will become a lawyer to make sure no one ends up like tom robinson, and that means to be wrongly convicted.
Scout- In ten years i see scout going to a great college where she will study to become either a doctor or a teacher because she is really smart and she really cares a lot about other people. She can read very well, she can write in complete scentenes, and she loves to care for other people so thats why i think she will be a doctor or a teacher.
Calpurnia- in ten years i see calpurnia starting a family of her own and leaving the Finch house to become a chef. I see this because Calpurnia cooks for the finches and they seem to like her food so i feel she will become a very good chef.

Throughout TKAM each character has grown up before our eyes heres where I believe Scout, Jem and Cal will be in 10 years

Scout: As we all know she is 6 at the start she doesnt understand life yet I could imagine it would be harder to know the world back then the to know the world now based on the events that go on. So in 10 years after Ive saw groeth in Scout I see her being a writer OR a motivationale speaker, because she would then be able to share her childhood story with the public. Id find her story very strange beacuase thats not how I grew up at all.

Jem: Jem always seemed more mature to me then Scout of course he was older so that adds to it. Jem seems like the type of person who loves to speak his mind. I get that feeling because the way he expressed his feelings towards his dads case. Therefore I feel that Jem could be valavictorian of his unversity and then have a wonderful life as a lawyer just like Atticus.

Cal: In the story she was the cook in the Finch household very kind educated better then most people of her kind. I can see her in 10 years maybe as a mom because she took care with Atticus's help of course with Scout and Jem she watched them grow, I can also see her either as a nurse/ doctor because shes good with kids, a speech coach to those who are not from a certain area because she was educated she would help them speak read and write. I feel she would do a great job teachiong people maybe even with disablities for the reason that she could be a life coach to anyone really disabled or not because she knows how to cook, clean and do simple everyday tasks that some people (me even) have trouble with.

Miss Muadie: A sweet tenet of the Fitches who I can see working in something involving nature (because she planted multiple times throughout the novel)she also tended and cared for her plants often. She could also be in 10 years working as a elementray school teacher for like the young grades because she was always bery positive and kind, even when her ENTIRE house cought on fire she stayed open minded. She also brought Jem Scout and Atticus baked goods if I am remebering correctly, although I am not 100% sure

Jem: In 10 years I can see Jem following the path of his dad, Atticus. He will become a successful lawyer and will defend African Americans. I can see him making a change in the world after the inspiration of his father. Jem will finish what his father had started and will change the minds of many people.

Scout: In 10 years I can see Scout as a writer. She will write about what Atticus has taught her through out her life and will make a novel for everyone else to read. I can see Scout as a more lady-like person because she will take her aunt's words on how to be more lady-like.

Calpurnia: In 10 years I can see Calpurnia moving out of the Finch's house and making a change for African Americans. She learned most of her intelligence from Atticus and will teach her intelligence to many other negroes and hopefully make a change in society. She will be the leader of a movement that will make blacks have the same educational teachings as whites.

  25. scout and jem have little knowledge of theres fathers trial and then they soon discorver that it was about a colored person they both tried going in theres fathers shoes and the theme is that the reason for all of this was a motive to give to the character that made there choosed what they wanted to do .
scout is a girl who want to fit in to the group shes in but some of the people in maycomb find it od she is a tomboy that find away to express her self she has will and staingth she has courage.so what i think of her in the future is a person that helps other girls to see what they can actually do.
Jem: could follow the same job as his father atticus as a lawyer but he could be something better aperson that can help a younger person to be a idol to the show them to right to wrong take action but responibly.

calpurnia. i see her having kids and living in apartment like the youngers in the book " a raisin in the sun" and might have a better living area where ppl can see her for her not color.

In 10 years from the end of the story many things will chane about the lives of Jem, Scout and Dill. I believe that Jem will follow in the footsteps of his father and become a lawyor. After seeing the way his father worked diligintly to help protect a black man, Jem will want to do whatever he can to help people. Jem will want to help protect a black man to take another step in ending racism. Atticus taught Jem many important lessons that he will use later in life. Jean Louiose Finch, or Scout, will be the same Tomboy Girl. As the story went on Aunt Alexandra became more accepting of the way Jem was, and how she dressed. She stopped nagging her about becoming more feminine. Scout will also be married to Dill. In ten years I see Dill living in Maycomb with Scout. After not being able to see Boo, he will still be greatly fascinated by his houesehold. The stories that Scout tell him will make him more intrigued to finds out more about Boo.

In ten years time the characters will be different people yet still have the same values they had in the story and be influenced by the lessons they learned.
Jem- Jem I believe will follow the footsteps of his father and become a lawyer. I also believe as a lawyer he will also help out people who need legal help but can not afford it. He will knew alot about trials and the manor in which they functioned from a young age.
Scout- Scout has now been maried for a year and is a very happy with her life. Now she is an activist working on that for no pay to try to change people and there views on people of other races like Atticus taught her. She is also a teacher teaching kindergarden and unlike the teacher she hated she not only teaches reading but she encourages learning and reading especially for those who are good at it.
Arthur 'Boo' Radley- It has been ten years since Boo has came out of his house although every year the Finch's go to his house to have diner with him and keep him company to say thanks for saving both of there lives. He still does not come out of his house though because of how bad some people are and prejudices.

  28. Nicolette Forgione Period 3 - In ten years after the novel has ended, Scout and Jem will have a better understanding of what happened during the trial and how many risks their father took to try and prove that Tom Robinson was innocent. The racism problems in Maycomb would probably be taken care of and die down. Scout and Jem would become more and more strong-minded and intelligent about the world and the people in it. They would see things differently than they used to see them and they would feel differently about society.
I can see Scout having a job that has to do with adventure and intelligence. She would have a family with Dill and she would teach her children all the things that Atticus had taught her when she was a kid and she would tell them the stories about what her and Jem did when they were younger and how Maycomb has changed since then.
Jem would become a lawyer just like Atticus and he would defend black people in trials because he saw how much of an impact it made in Maycomb when Atticus did it and he was inspired by it. He would grow up to be intelligent and wise and he would be married and act as Atticus did to him and Scout when they were young.
Boo Radley would finally leave his house and see how much the world changed and he would let people know that he wasn't the person everyone set him out to be, that he was an innocent man who was scared to come out of his house because he was afraid of what people would do to him. He would find someone who loves him for who he is and not the person everyone said he was and he would get married even though he would be really old. He would tell people the stories of Scout and Jem and what he did for them and how they changed how he looked at the world.

Scout- In ten years i see scout still being single. Eventually she will have kids, but she is too strong of a person to be pressured into getting married and having kids early. I think that she will become more ladylike with age and look back on her childhood as a fun joke.

Jem- I think Jem will become a lawyer like Atticus. Jem has seen the atrocities of the world and is disgusted by them, so he will try to provide justice and follow in Atticus' footsteps. He will also provide legal counsel to those who can't afford it just like Atticus did.

Boo Radley- In ten years i see Boo remaining in his house, however, he is not so opposed to company any more. The Finches will visit him and have dinner with him. Nathan will realize that Boo is no longer an unstable person and he will leave Boo alone. I think getting older will make Boo become more wise and he will realize that not everything in the world is horrible.

10 years from the end of the book I see Scout moving up to Boston with her Uncle Jack and is becoming a doctor. I felt that Scout is bigger than Maycomb County so she moved out and because of her connections in Boston, is now becoming a doctor. I think that Scout has learned many lesson's through the trail of Tom Robinson and also from the way her father acted through the book. I think that Scouts experiences with racial discrimination in the south made her move north and leave the racism.
10 years from the end of the book I see Jem continuing his father’s work and becoming a lawyer. His experiences with the Tom Robinson case pushed him to become a lawyer so what happened to Tom would not happen to him again. Dill has joined Jem and they have opened an accounting firm in Maycomb county that has become very successful. Dill is going to marry Scout once she comes back from Boston and finished with her studies.

Throughout the book To Kill A Mockingbird, Jem and Scout experienced a lot of life changing events that shaped there life and even changed their opinion on certain things. Due to the events that took place during Jem and Scouts lives, it will affect how they grow up.
In ten years i can imagine Scout being a hard working women who one day leaves Maycomb County and becomes very successful. Scout was very intelligent ever since a young girl. She may end up like Atticus (a lawyer) because she knows how to put up an argument. Throughout Scouts life she learned lessons such as not judging people from what you hear, Don't believe everything you hear and many more. Throughout Scouts life I'm sure she will apply what she learned in her childhood to benefit not only herself but the people around her.
In ten years i can imagine Jem becoming a lawyer like his father. During the case, Jem was all about going to watch it even though there father didn't want them to see it. The whole court, Jem was giving 100% of his attention to what was going on. Jem knew that Tom was innocent and understood what was going on the entire time. Jem will grow up and stand up for what he thinks is right because he probably wants to follow his dads footsteps.

  32. Chris G Period 7- One of the most importnt characters to talk about would have to be Scout. Setting the age at about 19, i believe Scout will have stopped all this nonsense about Boo Radley, after finally meeting him. Also, after talking about it so much, i do believe that Dill and her will end up together. She came to realize through her age not to judge a book by its cover, and will probably start to find out more about people, before just putting a stamp on their head. Scout will lead a successful life that with a career the incorporates her intellect and adventurous style.
Jem Finch has a similar but different future ahead of him. He too learned the valuable lesson of judging a bokk by its cover, and to stop the Boo Radley bussiness, even though he did not get to see him. But by the way he tried to be a second father to Scout, by taking Atticus' footsteps, Jem will develop into a proper man, who becomes a successful lawyer in the end.
Another person worth mentioning would be Mayella Ewell, who allegedly was raped by Tom Robinson. Mayella soon realized her wrong doings during the trial when Atticus clealry proved Tom innocent. And she was only doing this because she was under the influence of her dad Bob. Now that Bob is dead, however, Mayella will lead a different life in whic she truly respects people, and is kind to one another. Her father was forcing her to be something that she wasn't, which put a burden on her. Now the load has been lifted off her shoulders, and she can be free. All said and done, Mayella will have a family, someone who loves her unconditionally, which is what Mayella learned through her experiences. Everyone needs someone to love, even the poorest of people.

Scout: i think ten years from now scout will be independent and she will become more like a ladie she won't be fighting with her fists any more. she will be ignoring any comments that people make towards her. I think her and dill will end up being together and getting married. She will also learn more about the world and how she can't just put a random perspective on people because of the way they look. She will also have a very good job because she is very smart and more educated then most people at the time this book was written.

Jem finch: I think Jem will be learning the Same thing as scout to not judge a book by it's cover. I also think he will get over the fact that he didn't get to boo radley after everything he has done to try and see him. Jem will also be like his father and be a lawyer defending any man he can no matter what the situation was. He will also learn how to ignore people that will make fun of you because they are not worth it. Jem will also finish college and be really good dad like Atticus.

Boo radley: I think ten years from now boo will still be remaining in his house but he will not be alone I think the finches will visit him frequently. I also think he will find a wife and have kids that will try to get him out of the house but he won't leave it. I also think he will realize the world isn't as bad as he makes it seem but he still won't leave his house because of it.

Jem: Ten years from now I see Jem as a successful man and maybe following in the footsteps of his dad as becoming a lawyer. I see this in him because of the Tom Robinson case, he knew that Tom didn’t do anything wrong and knew that Tom didn’t need to be punished for something that isn’t true. I think he also wants to be just like his dad, because Atticus is a brave and strong man and gives a great influence to his kids. I also think that Jem and Scout will still have that sister and brother bond as they get older, even though their bond grew apart as Jem thought he was becoming more mature.
Scout: In ten years I see Scout as a real lady that is smart, strong, and successful in life, and also having a little bit of that tom boy side of her because that was who she was, and we can’t change a person for who they are. I also imagine her as a lady that stand up for herself and standing up for what she thinks is right and maybe doing something in her career as a writer.
Boo Radley: In ten years I see everyone in town knowing that it was really Boo who killed Bob Ewell, and they would think of Boo as a better person. I can also see Boo as a regular person that goes out into town and doing stuff with his neighbors, and not him always being in his house.

Atticus: In ten years I see Atticus as a retired lawyer who sits on his porch and reads the paper. I see him reminiscing what happened in the past and how he has changed throughout the years. Atticus will be reading more than ever now that he has all this time from his retirement. He has thoughts and starts to see the world change around him.

Scout: In ten years I see Scout as a growing young lady. She starts to realize all the joys that are around her while maturing. She's starting to realize the proper way to act like a lady and her fighting days are long gone. She's starting to be interested in school as it starts to reach her academic level and challenge her. Scout learns new things and loves to learn about the beautys of the world.

Jem: In ten years I see Jem applying to a university to become a lawyer like Atticus. Jem has gone through stages where he remembers the hurt and confusion he experienced through that summer that has given him a type of bitterness usually reserved for old men. He wants to bring justice into the world for everyone by becoming a lawyer.

Scout: In 10 years Scout will not be married and will still b living with her dad. I think that she will b extremely smart bc I think that she has learned from what has gone on in her life and I think that bc of these situations she has been able to apply herself to a lot of knowledge she owns. I think she will go to college and become a successful woman bc she will have the drive to succeed.

Jem: In 10 years I believe tht Jem will mature even more and I believe tht he will become a football player bc I think tht he loves the game so much and will always play it no matter what happened before. I also think if football doesn't work out then he will b just like his father and I think he will hve tht same calmness as Atticus.

Dill: In 10 years Dill will b a young intelligent man who thinks he is better than everyone bc of his personality. I think he will b successful and I think he'll go to Harvard bc he is going to b extremely smart. I think he'll b unmarried bc no one wants to marry a stuck up man.

Jem: In 10 years i believe jem would have turned out to be like his father, successful, with a family of his own and maybe even a layer, in the town of maycomb, having a good and meaningful childhood there wouldn't want him to change a thing. He will also take his fathers attitude and teach his kids what his father taught him.
Boo: i think that in 10 years boo will be much older and more social not to much, i think he will be able to leave his house but not socialize with everyone.he also might be goo friends with Jem and scout as they all grow older.
Scout in 10 years will be a married to Dill, and have a family of her own, she won't rely on him and stay close to home and they will all grow old together

He would probably also take the lessons that his father taught him and make sure that he teaches his kids that also.
Atticus: In ten years I see Atticus as a retired lawyer. I see him looking back on what he went through with everything and just remembering the lessons he taught his kids and then he actually feels proud of himself because he made his kids lives better in every way.
Boo: In 10 years i see him being much older and being able to talk to more people and being able to leave his house and actually socialize with everyone else. He will be more friendly to people and try to help more people that he can

My name is Scout Finch, you may know me from TKAM, alot has changed since then. I am still going to school, and I plan on becoming a teacher when i grow up. i still love reading and being around my brother and father. My aunt sadly moved back to the Landing but her and i have been getting along better now because now i am a bit more ladylike then i was before. Overall i have grown up quite abit and i haven't given up on fighting, im still a bit violent.
My brother, Jem is also still in school. He towers over me and he has got himself a girlfriend named Lily. We actually dont get along very well, were siblings so what do you expect. he thinks hes too cool for me and cant be bothered. He wants to be a lawyer just like our Dad, and Atticus is extremely happy and surprised at his choice. and surprisingly Jems got a job now, he is a mailman and i can see him having conversations with Boo on most days.

Dill has definately grown into his looks, he doesnt live with his parents anymore but i dont think he cares. He lives with his aunt and goes to school with me. Actually him and i are like best friends, we are so close. hes over my house all the tuime and its on a regualr basis. Me and him spend all the time together and i bet we r going to get married. He wants to be a lawyer like my dad also, and he has the grades for it.

In ten years both Jem and Scout will be successful and inspirational young adults. I think that Scout will be a good mother to her children but also be the independent woman she has always been her whole life. As a job I think that Scout will be some kind of Journalist who rights about equal rights between people, since she was skilled in reading and writing and Atticus had practiced with her. Scout will also be a good journalist because she learned from her father that Things aren't always what they might seem to be.
In ten years Jem will also have a family of his own. He will be like Atticus in the way he raises his and I also believe that he will become a successful lawyer. Jem was old enough to recognize what had happened in the trial, so I think that he wants to provide justice for the people who deserve it.
Atticus will be retired from his job as a lawyer and will be able to hang out and interact with neighbors like Miss Maudie. He will think about all the things he had taught his children about respect and love. And he will see both of them are teaching what they learned from him to their own children.

Ten years from where the book takes place, I believe that Scout will have changed a lot. I think that she will leave Boo Radley alone since she had had the opportunity to see from his point of view. I also think that she and Dill will also end up getting married in Maycomb. She will also develop farther and end up more like her father, Atticus. Jem Finch will follow in his fathers footsteps and become a very successful lawyer like him. Since he had acted like a second father to Scout, he will be an excellent father to his children, like Atticus was. Also, I believe that Boo Radley will outgrow his fear of the outside world and become a regular person again. He wil become more friendly with everyone and Atticus will help him do so.
