  1. The title of this video is called "Words Can Kill". Students in this generation have been getting bullied, not just physically, but emotionally and that can affect many students and all they think about is suicide or hurting themselves to stop the critiques of others.
I believe this viewing many facts because it explains what real students actually went through and they explain how they felt like. They opened up with their stories so that you can see their point of view and see how many of these kids are being emotionally scared.
Yes, this is a representation of reality because these kids are actual victims of bullying and they explain their thoughts. People around them also explain how this situation affected them such as suicide or change in attitude.
I feel really bad for the students that have sacrificed their life because they think that it would make everything better, but in reality it would harm their family.
In the book, "Speak" the main character has started a new year in a new school and peers in the school have been talking behind her back and talking about something that occurred. In the special presentation many kids critique the victims by making up rumors or harassing them.

  4. Emily Coash Period 9:
The title of the movie was "Words Can Kill". This title was made for many reasons. Kids all over the world are judged on how they look, what they wear, who they hangout with. Every school has its cliques, bullies and victims. Practically all kids have said or written something about someone whether its online or in person. What people don't realize is the things we say may not seem like they are actually hurting the person but in the inside your words can ruin there life. The movie title is very powerful because even though you may be kidding with things you say, they can really hurt someone and lead to terrible results.
In the movie it had perspectives of victims, victims family. Innocent kids were crushed and attacked by there class mates and were terrified to go back to school. Parents of the victims didn't know what to do and dropping there kids at school felt like they were dropping there child off to fight a war.
The movie is not made up, it is a real life problem that kids have to deal with everyday. It can happen to anyone. Every teenager has both said something hurtful about someone or had someone say something hurtful about them. Whether we notice it a lot, some teenagers have to face being abused emotionally by kids everyday of their life.
When watching the movie i realized things I've said in the past too be funny, really can hurt someone. Even if i think its a joke i really realized i need to start to think on how it will impact someone next time. Especially when i don't know there story.
I think the issues of bullying and isolation will come up in speak a lot.In every high school, there is a problem with bullies.

  5. The title of this video is “Bullying: Words Can Kill”. The title was chosen because bullying can get so out of hand that people get to a point where they feel that the constant torturing is so horrific that it would just be easier to commit suicide. I feel the title was definitely effective because it forces people to think about the emotional and physical damage kids go through everyday due to the insincerity and cruelty of bullies.
The viewing of this video presented the fact that bullying goes on in every school no matter how many people may want to deny it. Although bullying is something terrible and should very well be stopped, there is only so much the victim and outsiders can do. The only way for bullying to be truly stopped is if everyone was alike and no one was insecure. Bullies usually feel insecure and pick on other people to make them feel good about themselves, and sometimes victims of bullying think that the only way to stop being bullied is to show that they are tough enough to torture someone else.
This viewing is definitely a representation of reality because it is completely centered on real-life cases of extreme bullying. I am fortunate enough to have never been seriously bullied, but that doesn’t mean that everyone hasn’t. There is a bullying problem in every school, everywhere in the world and this video helped display how serious bullying really is.
While watching “Bullying: Words Can Kill” I felt horribly for the kids being tortured and it made me want to help them. I responded this way because I know what it is like to be bullied, and I can’t even begin to comprehend how it must feel to be bullied in such an extreme manner. Kids always seek to fit in and not stand out, and when bullies make it so that every day is lived in fear and terror for the victim, it shows how emotionally detached some people can be.
In the video, victims of bullying said that if you ever sought out help and got the bullies in trouble, the bullies would “retaliate” and hurt you even more. In Speak, the main character, Melinda Sordino is too scared to find help and go against the bullies. She and so many other kids are terrified of what could happen if they told people what bullying really is and how it makes them feel.

The title of this documentary is called, “Bullying: Words Can Kill”
This title was appropriate for the film because many of the harsh words bullies say lead to teenage suicide. This title had a huge impact because it gave a perspective of the difficult things many kids are going through. This video presented many facts about bullying, the way many teens are getting attacked through cyber bullying and in or out of school bullying. Also the fact that many kids are hurting themselves because of the nasty things people are saying to them just to make themselves feel better. This most definitely is reality. If you go around different schools im sure you can ask any kid and they will mostly likely say that they have had some form of bullying. I've seen many different effects on people who've been bullied such as cutting or getting stomach aches from being nervous to even go to school. I felt sad when i watched this video because it accurately represented the affects of bullying on children nationwide. I reacted this way because i know that some people have been extremely bullied and it pushes them to the point where they have to hurt themselves. It made me want to save all these kids and help them deal with the different types of problems they have.
This video does connect to speak. Melinda Sordino, the main character was getting bullied by kids in her grade because she ended up busting the end of the summer party. She was scared to get help when she really needed it, and many kids are afraid to get help because they're afraid the bullies are going to find out and hurt them even more.

  7. Chris G Period 7- The title of this video was "Bullying: Words can kill". This title explains the tortue kids go through everyday wrapped up in one general statement. The title tells me that because of bullying, on the internet and face to face, the words that people say lead people to suicide. It is a simple but meaningful title.
The video gave the very true opinion that every school has some kind of bullying problem. They also said that it will probably never be fixed, but the leat they can do is try to stop someone from hurting themselves.
The video shown represented the real lives of many people around the country. Everyday people face bullies and their hurtfull words. And many of those everyday victims feel like nothing and in the end take their own lives.
As i was watching the video, i felt a sense of uneasiness and hatred. I cringe at the thought of kids our age killing themselves over other kids our age taunting them everyday. I think about if i were a victim and how i would handle it. I cant really say what i would do unless i felt what a real victim felt. The hatred comes from the bullies themselves. Why would they want to pick on someone everyday? And after that victim they've been bullying goes and kills themselves, how do they feel. I could even think of the amount of guilt i would be feeling.
In the book "Speak", Melinda has done something that makes the whole school hate her. She has not told us what yet but as we read more into the story we will find out. Just like the kids in "Bullying: Words Can Kill", Melinda will be continuosly be bullied. But unlike the video, Melinda will find an outlet to her problems. I believe it is the art project she is assigned. Kids in the video and around the country who get bullied should find their positive outlet. Finding a way to escape makes victims less vulnerable to harming themselves.

  8. Erica G period 3- The title of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title was effective because it describes what bully victims go through when they are harassed both online and in person, and how what people say can lead to their victims committing suicide.
This video gave the opinions of the parents of children who have been affected by bullying. The people in the video said that bullying will probably never end, but they have to try to stop bully victims from harming themselves. In the book Speak, Melinda is constantly harassed by her classmates because of something she did that made the whole school hate her. I think that she will find an outlet to her problems that doesn't involve hurting herself, and that this will help her to keep a positive outlook on life, even as everyone in her school tries to make her life miserable.
This video represents what many kids deal with during school or online. Everyday, people become victims to bullying. The harsh words the bullys say to the people they are harassing can lead them to self hatred, which can end in suicide.
While watching this video, I felt hatred for the bullys and very upset when their victims were interviewed. I hated that the bullys taunted these kids to the extreme extent of telling their victims to kill themselves. I wondered how they felt about what they did to their victims after they killed themselves. If I was the bully, I would be permanently scarred because of the fact that something I said lead to someone taking their own life.

  9. Roma Scarano (pd. 4) The title of the video is, "Bullying: Words can kill." This specific title was chosen to represent the true reality of what is happening to the victims getting bullied. It was effective because it drew the viewer in and summed up all the bad after effects hatefulness could cause; for example, suicide.
This video presented many facts as well as opinions such as that the internet has become a major hot spot for bullying. Another fact is that more and more teens are committing suicide to end all the harassment and evil in their lives. One opinion was that one school claimed every school around the nation has a bully issue. For some schools it could be true but for others, there isn’t much bullying around.
This viewing is a representation of reality because CBS interviewed kids around our ages that are the prey for savage bullies. They shared how it’s a struggle to go into school every day with a positive attitude and even thought about what it would be like if they weren’t around. Furthermore, “Bullying: Words can kill,” shows coverage of when some of the moms went to their state senate. They are trying to pass the Jessica Logan Act to encourage stronger protection and consequences against bullying. It is in memory of Jessica Logan who was an eighteen year old girl who was legitimately bullied to death.
I felt very sorry for these people because I couldn’t imagine going to school every day with a shield of armor and always expecting the worst to come. I felt this way especially when watching the section on a seventh grade girl named Dara Genovese. Dara’s mother put together a thirty five page spread on the harassment her daughter has received from facebook and her cell phone alone. Seeing that made me surprised that bullying actually happened to a much more extent then what I thought. I believe I responded this way because I have never experienced it, so it is not common for me to hear that kids are being tortured that much that they are scared to come to school for just six hours.
A connection to the book, Speak, is that both Melinda and the victims are getting pushed around by people all the time. I don’t know what happened to Melinda to make everyone hate her, but it has closed her off to just about all her old friends. I’m assuming by the illustration on the cover, the art project about the tree will keep her going and help her with her emotional problems. This was her way of coping with her issues. Mentioned in the video, one school put on a play for students to show what bullying experiences other peers had faced in their lives. For many, this helped stop the bullying a bit and made them feel more secure which allowed them to let all their anger and frustration out. It is always a suggestion to occupy lonely time with a hobby when upset or angry. It helps calms you down and release any tension within.

  10. Ariel C Period 6- The title of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill" and the title makes complete sense. If you really think about it the bullies that lead to suicide are like murderers, except that they murder people with their words rather than physically. This movie showed facts and opinions. It showed what bullying was like from the parents of bullied children, from the point of view of bullied kids and in some examples from the point of view of bullies. In this case, the bullies didn't even realize that they were bullies; they couldn't admit to it. The poor parents had to suffer through their kids. It is really hard for parents to help their kids when they are being bullied. In order to help their kids, they have to know the full story and when a person is being bullied they often keep to themselves. This viewing is a complete representation of reality. These are/were real people. Real people that didn't deserve to have this happen to them, but that's how bullying works. Bullies are insecure people who pick on others to boost their own self-confidence. During the movie I got really emotional. It's really hard for me to watch people around my age get pushed so far that they commit or want to commit suicide. If you really think about it, it hits so close to home. That could be me, but it's not. In the book Speak, Melinda is bullied and she feels like she can't speak out about what is happening because there is no one there to listen. This is what pushes people so far off the edge. Victims of bullying feel like there is no one to turn to. They are fearful, just like Melinda. I think that Speak will deal with many issues of bullying and possibly suicide.

  13. Jake Trotta- the title of the movie was Bullying, Words can Kill. the title is very simple, but it says a lot. this title explains what kids go through everyday; from cyber bullying to being tortued in the hallways. kids get so angry and ask themselves if it wolud be easier if they werent alive.
this viedo told each persons opion of how they feel about bullying. each and everyone of them want it to be fixed, and they are fighting as hard as they can for it to happen. when i watched this i didnt think it would be this bad, but i was wrong. kids are being bullied throughout the world and people arent really doing anything about it. kids are being bullied so badly, that they are commiting suicide.
in the book "Speak", Melinda has done something that has made the whole school hate her. Melinda is being bullied by the kids in the school for what she has done. i think that the art project that Melinda has chosen will set her free from what she is hidding. if kids are being bullieed around the world, they should find something that would set them free so then they wouldnt be as vunerable to hurting themselves.

  14. Sabrina Amicucci period 4- The tittle of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". The tittle go's exactly with the message the video is trying to send to its viewers. The video is filled with facts. The kids in the video tell their true bullying stories, and how it gets worse for them as the years go on. This is a reality because bullying happens everywhere and most people don't do anything to prevent it or stop it from happening. When I watched the video in class i felt like i wanted to cry. I felt this way because i wanted to help these kids and other kids who have been bullied. In the novel "Speak" the main character has no friends, wants friends, is trying to escape and hates her life. The same traits apply to the kids in the video. For example, the boy in the video would go to school with no friends, being hated by the other kids, wishing for it all to end and keeping it all to him self; just like the main character Melinda in "Speak". I believe that the issue of bullying will come up a lot in the novel "Speak".

  15. Shannon Z. Period 6:
The title was “Bullying-Words can Kill.” This title was chosen because it represents what some kids are going through because of bullying at school. It was an effective title because bullying can get bad and make people want to commit suicide in result. The viewing presented facts from teenager’s stories and their families about what happened to them. This is a reality because these teenagers were actually bullied, and it is a combination of true stories to show that bullying can be a severe thing happening to kids. I felt bad for the kids and teenagers who were shown in the viewing, because they went through a lot and it was hard to go to school everyday and get tormented for some reason. I also felt bad for the families that have had their children commit suicide because of bullying who had to go through the fact that their children were bullied and it went to that extent. The viewing relates to the novel Speak because Melinda is bullied everyday, much like the kids in the viewing. People didn’t like her for a reason, and then tormented her for it. The kids in the viewing also had these problems in school and it is similar to Speak.

  16. Jacee Cappelli Period 7- The title of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill." This title was probably chosen because it perfectly matches the message of the video. The video is about how bullying can make people kill themselves, or hurt them. while viewing this video you are given both facts on the subject, like statistics and different stories of "bullycide." But you are also given opinions from teachers, other adults, and peers on what they notice and how they feel about all of this. This video is most certainly a correct representation of reality. This is because, bullying and being mean and disrespectful to one another really does happen, everywhere. Maybe not to the extremes as certain stories but bullying does take place in some shape or form. The video shocked me. Mostly because i was actually watching these kids, who contemplated killing themselves, describe just how they were bullied and what they started to feel like, and they reality of it just shocked me. This video relates to the book Speak because Melinda is being bullied, because of something people think they know about that makes her look like the bad guy, but they don't know the real story. The people from the video are being bullied severely because they are different, or maybe because the victims made mistakes in the past. These stories also relate because of the way that these kids choose to deal with the bullying, Melinda will use art. Some of the kids in the video like talking to the counselors who really want to make a change. I think that the whole novel of Speak is related to bullying and that the theme will have to do with it too.

  17. Nicole D(pd 4): The title of this video was "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title was chosen because children in this generation have been bullied both physically and emotionally. Words can hurt these children emotionally and cause bad thoughts that can lead them to suicide.
The viewing presented both facts and opinions. Some children and parents sat down and expressed their feelings and opinions towards bullying and their experiences. There were some facts stated about where and when bullying goes on and how much there is all over the country.
This viewing is a representation of reality because these were real people sharing their stories and experiences and this happens all over the country.
While watching it, I felt sad and felt bad for all these children. It's hard to watch people around my age get picked on and made fun of leading to thoughts of suicide.
In the book Speak, Melinda is bullied and talked about in the school hallways. She thinks that she can't speak about anything to anyone because no one cares or is there to listen. Children who get bullied think there is no one to turn to so they keep it hidden and have fear, like Melinda. I think these issues will come up a lot in the book because every school has a problem with bullies.

  19. Daniella Lagani Period 7-The tittle of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Hurt". This tittle was chosen because bullying really is a serious problem and if not stopped, bullying can cause victims to attempt suicide. This tittle is very effective and catches the view's eye. During the video many opinions were expressed. Bullying occurs in every school, some worse than others. In some schools principals think bullying isn't such a huge deal and didn't do anything to change the ways of their school. But there are others schools who, as soon as they relized there was bullying around the school, they acted right away. This viewing is a representaion of reality because bullying happens everywhere, though mostly on school grounds. While watching this video I felt sorrowful beacuse these kids have to go through all that tormenting day after day. It doesn't seem very fair to the victims. If the bullies just stopped bothering others there would be less bullied-related suicides. Even though we are not far in the book Speak, I have noticed that the protagonist, Melinda, gets bullied. Both the video and the novel involve people getting bulled. And I think the bullying is going to affect Melinda thoughout the story and she will probably have thoughts on suicides as do many victims of bullying

  20. Matthew Miles Period 7- The title of the video is "Bullying: Words can Kill". This title was chosen because bullying is a very serious problem and if it is not stopped the victims of the bullies may become bullies themselves or they may even kill themselves because they can't take it anymore. This makes people think twice about bullying. Their were many opinions expressed throughout the movie and also facts. Bullying happens in every school. Different schools take bullying a different way. in the video there is actual bullying going on. It is a reality. This happens on school grounds and through different forms of technology. I felt very bad for these kids because I can't imagine going through my day being bullied every minute. It's not fair even if they have different interests it doesn't mean you can treat them differently. If bullying stopped there would be less suicides relating to bullying. In the book Speak the main character is bullied a lot. These two things, the book and the video are in common because they both involve bullying. Bullying will affect Melinda and she probably won't be able to take it anymore and she might have thoughts about taking her own life. These are the same thoughts that kids have when they get bullied very badly.

  21. Melanie S period6- The title of the video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This is an effective title for the video because the kids were getting bullied emotionally through the cruel words of others. Most of the kids were bullied in person as well as online which led them to think they weren’t good enough to be alive. The viewing presented both facts and opinions of the people being bullied. There were a lot of facts about bullying online is becoming more apparent. It also had all the opinions of the kids and families being affected by bullying. This viewing is reputations of reality because every school has bullying, and at least once someone has witnessed bullying happen in their school or outside of school. While I was watching the video it made me feel sad that people were bullied to the point where they couldn’t handle it anymore. It also made me feel angry that someone would torture another person. In the book Speak, Melinda is getting bullied in her school for doing something that everyone hated. I think that the book will show more of the bullying in her school and how she deals with it.

  22. Abdullah Ahmad Period 3 This title was chosen because it represents what some kids are going through because of bullying at school. It was a reasonable title because bullying can get bad and make people want to even kill them self. The stuff are from teenager’s stories and their families about what happened to them. This is a reality because these teenagers were actually bullied, and committing suicide. I felt sad for the kids who were shown in the viewing, because they went through a lot in school. I also felt sad for the families that have had their children get bullied . The viewing relates to the novel Speak because Melinda is bullied everyday, much like the kids in the video. People didn’t like her for a reason, and then tormented her for it. These are the same thoughts that kids have when they get bullied very badly.

The title of the video "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title was chosen because the main message of the video is that bullying is serious issue and that not only can it lead to emotional stress, but it can also lead to kids commiting suicide. I feel that the title was effective because it makes kids think twice about their actions.
My viewing of this videopresented a bunch of facts i never knew about bullying. It shows that bullying is everywhere and its very hard to escape.
This viewing is a representation of reality because its not like these kids are making up these stories for attention or killing them selves for no reason, bullying happens everyday of every year and its hard to stop. These kids are dealing with the harrasment everyday and cant avoid it.
While watching this video, I felt really bad for the kids who were being harrassed day after day and I felt even worse for the families who lost there loved ones because of bullies. I also felt really bad for the girl Dara who has been putting up with bullys for over 8 years and im very worried about her because im afraid one day shell snap and try to kill herself.
In the book, Speak, Melinda had done something really bad that had made all her friends turn on her and hate her. This connects to the video because the kids in the video have tried to make friends but had them all turn on them even though they did nothing wrong, the bullies only made up rumors to ruin the kids lifes. In both the book and the video, Melinda and the kids being bullied all share the same feeling of being scared to go to school.

  24. Federica Balboni Period 4-
The title of this video is “Bullying: Words Can Kill”. This title was probably picked because people who are being bullied; the victims, everyday they get mean words thrown at them, words that hurt them. Words that make them want to kill themselves. Gun's don't kill people, people don't kill people, words kill people. The video presented facts and opinions, peoples opinions on bullying and the facts about bully and how much it ruins not just one persons life but others too. This video is non fiction, it shows reality. It explains the lives that people live everyday the abuse that they are drowning in and can't get rid of because they are either to scared to speak up or to nervous on what there bully might do to them next. After viewing this video it made me feel grateful because I do not experience the pain that these kids do. I've been made fun of before but not to the point where it makes me want to put my life at risk. I feel guilty that children go through this everyday. I wish people stopped bullying because it shouldn't make anyone feel good about themselves the bully gets nothing at the end in return. I think in speak Melinda is bullied through out it obviously because we have been learning a lot about bullying and so far in the book Melinda doesn't have many friends and people think differently of her and she thinks differently of herself. I think she has a low self esteem and that is what a victim of bully develops a low self esteem that leads them to killing themselves.

  25. Carlye Uretta Period 4- The title of this video was called "Bulling: Words Can Kill" i think this title was chosen because it shows that the harsh words and the abuse both physically and emotionally is very hurtful and wears down peoples self esteem and gets the victim to believe what the bullies are saying and they believe that they have no purpose in the world so therefore some victims harm themselves or take their own lives. I think it was a very reasonable title to choose for this video because bullying can make people feel awful and lead them to their last resort of thinking all the pain can be ended when their lives are ended.
The viewing of this video presented both facts and opinions, the facts were that kids killed themselves over bullying and its both physical and emotional pain inflicted onto the victim, my opinion got me to think if our grade or school had a bully but as far as i know of we dont but i can be wrong because some people do not speak up about what other people are doing to them, it was sad to hear all the stories about kids harming themselves and how upset they felt everyday too.
I think the viewing was a representation of reality because it showed what was going on to these numerous kids at their school and how they were being bullied, wether it be on the internet, face to face, verbal or physical. It showed what kids had to face everyday in their daily lives and all the pain that was forwarded towards them purposely to make them feel bad about themselves.
I felt so bad for the kids who were being bullied and then led them to do harmful things to themselves, it was sad to see that people would take it to that far of an extent to get someone to harm themselves or even take there own life as some of the stories said. I responded this was because i personally cant imagine someone being in such amount of pain, yes people joke around with others but for someone to actually set a goal to make someone feel bad about themselves is just really low of the abuser, i also reacted this way because these are real people being hurt by other people! and its sad that someone of the same society would do that to another individual.
The viewing relates to the novel Speak because Melinda is being bullied and put down everyday of her freshman year in high school, as are the kids in the video. Something clearly happened to her in the past and therefore she is bullied for no reason and people don't talk to her and she feels worthless and feels like she has no purpose just like the kids in the video who were bullied and wanted to take their lives.

  26. Amanda Levkoff Period 6:
The title of the video "Bullying: Words Can Kill" was chosen because the message of this video is that bullying a very big issue that affects peoples lives. This title is effective because bullying can lead to many things like personality changes and kids risking their lives by committing suicide. Kids all over the world are being bullied still today whether it is in person or cyber-bullying. People are judged on how they look, what they wear and who they hang out with day by day for no reason. The viewing presented facts and opinions because people said their opinions on bullying and facts on how it happens in most schools and how it could lead to death. This viewing is a representation of reality because bullying is reality, it happens all the time for no reason and it can hurt kids in many ways. What people don't realize is that the things we say might not seem like they are actually hurting someone else's feelings. What people need to remember is that words are very powerful and we need to make sure we use them correctly without harming others. When watching the movie I realized things I've never understood how bullying is such a serious issue around the world. This taught me that even if you think saying something to someone is funny, it can really hurt them and you can be known as a school bully. A connection to this movie is about the book, Speak. Melinda made a mistake that caused all of her friends to turn her down and not care about her anymore. Like Melinda, kids being bullied all mostly feel the same way about it. They are very upset and feel alone. Most of the time kids being bullied don't speak up because they are scared.

  27. Kyle Lometti period-3. The title of the movie we are watching is "Bullying: Words Can Kill" I think they chose this name because kids around the world are getting bullied physically and emotionally. People say mean things to other people and they are very hurt by it and they are so effected by it that they harm others and themselves, or they kill themselves, thus the title of the movie. I think the title was effective because it portrayed such a sad, powerful message. This movie does represent what is actually occurring in our society because it is based on the stories of young people who have unfortunately been bullied. I feel very sad when I watch things like this because it is true and really happens and it stuns me that people can be so mean and heartless. People are mainly made fun of because of their differences and I think in "Speak" the main character Melinda, is being bullied because she doesnt talk very much. Thats why i think it is called speak, because she wants to talk, but she is afraid that if she does she might be made fun of.

  28. James D-Period 6: The title, "Bullying: Words Can Kill" was chosen because if someone is bullied enough they may commit suicide just from words or even from physical abuse. It is an effective title because it sounds interesting and will make someone interested in reading it.
The viewing presented opinions because real students and their parents sat down and talked about how they were bullied and why they were bullied.
The viewing represented reality because they were real students that were bullied in there own way and were picked on because of something different. This made me feel disappointed because of how cruel students could be to each other and how much sadness and disaster someone could cause just from words and abuse. I think that there is no need to bully someone even if something is going on in your life and you need to take it out on someone else. If there were no bullies then kids wouldn't be afraid to go to school and many lives would be saved.
In the novel "Speak," Melinda is bullied and talked about everyday because of something that happened awhile ago and she doesn't have anymore friends to help her out. Melinda doesn't want to go to school because of these bullies and will eventually get the same thoughts of suicide as others because of bullies.

  29. Keith Lometti period 7- The title, "Bullying: Words Can Kill", was based on how people can sometimes be bullied by physical or verbal abuse to the point where they might kill themselves. It is an effective title because it is interesting how they are implying that even though the person who bullied the victim, did not kill them, their words can go to the point where the victim may kill themselves. The viewing presented facts about the statistics of bullies and people committing suicide from bullying. It also presented opinions because when the students and their parents were interviewed, it gave their opinion on the situation of bullying. The video also represented reality because the students that were interviewed were real victims of bullying. I felt angry while watching the video because it is sad and angering to see and hear about people being bullied to the point of suicide or attempts of suicide. In "Speak", the main character, Melinda, is also bullied and has no one besides Heather to talk to about her problems with the bullies. The kids in the video also said that they felt like they had no one to talk to or discuss the problems they had with bullying.

  30. Maria Lopez (period3). The title of this video is called "Bullying: Words can kill.” I think that this was a very effective title because it’s very short and simple, but yet very deep and powerful. Not only that, but it basically summarized the message of the video in one phrase. I think that this was a very powerful title because it briefly describes how serious bullying can get, and how words can do more than just hurt a person. It describes what a lot of people, mostly teens, are going through and what their feeling. This video provided many important facts about bullying, how it hurts and how it’s getting worse. Such as more and more teenagers are committing suicide to end all the torment, what some teens said to other teens to torment them, where the bullying mostly goes on, and even if it goes on all over other countries. But at the same, I believe this video provided us with more opinions rather than facts. I believe this because teens getting bullied and their families, or others like for example the assistant principal, sat down and talked about how much bullying hurt, what they felt and how they have dealt with it. The viewing of the representation is definitely reality, because it was base on real people and their stories, bullying has become a very serious issue for many people out there and not just teenagers, people who constantly get put down and tormented either by words or physically. There are also many people out there that don’t do much or stand by and watch someone’s life get ruined, but there are also people that try to help out or put a stop to bullying. When I watched this video I felt very horrible and sad, it made me realize that even the slightest negative comment can hurt anybody. I learned not just to stand by and watch someone be hurt in any kind of way, to give them help or to tell an adult.
A connection I made with this video and the book Speak, is that the victims in this video and Melinda from the book are constantly being harassed and pushed around. Many other victims like Melinda don’t know what to do when they are being bullied, they don’t know who to go to or what to say.

  31. Brian Ganis Pd3- The title is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title was chosen because this title grabs the readers attention and is a good opener to start off the topic of bullying. This title is effective because it had contributed to causing many people to view this story. The viewing presented facts because no matter where you go there is always some form of bullying. Whether it's cyber, physical or verbal bullying. Clearly this does represent reality, considering the fact that this did actually happen. While i was watching this story i felt disappointed, frustrated and disturbed. It shocked me to hear the cruel, harsh statement that the bullies were saying to the victims. It was disturbing when the kid's said, "oh, your hear? we wished you were dead." It frustrates me that nobody could stop the bullies. However the mother has no right to completely blame everyone who couldn't stop it, because it wasn't entirely their fault. For example if i was a parent to one of the victims. I would have immediately taken them out of school. I would have paid for private school, and if that wasn't an option i would have home schooled my child by myself. Also it's not like the mother had no idea what was going on. Therefore the blame is mutual and could go either way. This story is connected to the book "Speak", because in both stories there is bullying present. Everyday the main character Melinda s traumatized by something that happened in the past and in school she is constantly bullied. i have a feeling that Melinda will avoid committing suicide and will find a way to overcome her problems. But the constant negativism towards her is not helping.

  32. Mike Salvatori pd. 3- The name of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title was chosen to inform people of the dangers of verbally harrassing another peer. This kind of harrassment can lead to suicide and other violent acts. Many facts were presented throughout this video. This video showed many kids commiting suicide because of the torture. Some opinions throughout this movie were that the schools and authorities don't do enough to stop bullying between children. This viewing represents reality because some of these kids committing suicide are the same age as us. The information in the videos shocked me. Some of the things the bullies did to the victims was horrible. Some kids were spit on and another had syrup poured on him. This relates to the novel SPEAK because Melinda is a high school girl going through a tough time. All of her friends turned there back to her. She has a secret, but has no one to talk to because she is scared of being judged.

  33. Daniel Quinn Period 4- The title “Bullying: Words Can Kill” was chosen because sometimes if the bullying gets to a degree the victim will commit suicide which one kid in the video did. It was very effictive because it showed how bad bullying can get. In the video some of the fact's explained how bad bullying can by showing the sitiuations that the victims were in. Also in the video there was opinions that were expressed like the interviews off the people that were affected by bullying. This video was a representation of reality because it showed real life accounts of what was going on in kids lives that were being bullyed. This isn't only happenig to them but it is happenig to people everywhere. After watching this video I feel disgusted at what is happening to these kids. The reason i reacted this way is because what is happeing to these kids isnt right and it needs to change. In "Speak" so far you can see that the main charracter is going to be bullied. The start of the bullying so the worst off it has yet to come. The issue off bullying is definatly going to come up in the book "Speak."

  34. The title of the video is “Words Can Kill”. This title was chosen because bullying can come to a point where the victim can't take any more abuse, so they just decide to commit suicide. I think this title is very effective because bullying can come to an extent where someone wants to kill themselves from the abuse. This video presented facts and opinions. The fact is that bullying happens everyday, in every school around America. Even though many students deny getting bullied, everyone knows it happens and no one stands up to it or stops it. The opinions are from the bullies themselves. They believe it is ok to pick on students who stand out from others, and don't have many friends. Other people think it is not ok to do so because this leads to students being upset and depressed by the constant bullying, that it may lead them to just commit suicide. This video does represent reality because it is based on true stories of students who have killed themselves, and on students who are being bullied now. I am not bullied but I know of people who are, and I don't agree with bullies. They hurt innocent people who have done nothing to the bully. These bullying incidents happen in everyday life and it really has to be stopped. When I watched this video, I felt extremely bad for the kids that were being bullied because they seem like nice kids who have done nothing to hurt others, yet they get bullied every day. I have seen kids get bullied before and I've tried stopping it, but it's impossible to stop because the bullies don't know they are hurting someone to such a far extent. All these kids that get bullied are too scared to find help or tell someone about it. In Speak, Melinda is too scared to tell someone about get bullied. Just like the students in the video, Melinda is scared to go to school. I also think Melinda might end up committing suicide like some of the kids in the video.

  35. Sydney Rheingold Period 6-The title of this video is “Bullying: Words Can Kill.” This title is very effective because bullying has gone very far, bullying can hurt someone emotionally and physically. This affects many other students, and all some kids can think about it bad thoughts, most of them think suicide and hurting themselves will just make the problem go away. Also its very effective because its very short yet very deep. I believe this viewing presented facts. A couple different kids felt the need to open up and tell someone about the problem that has occurred in their life. They didn't open up so they can scare you, they opened up so you know how many people get bullied, how some people handled their problem, and even what they have been through. Parents who lost a daughter or a son knows what it feels like. They wanted to send out a message to everyone and let them know that there is going to be a stop to bullying. Yes this is a representation of reality because these are really problems that have occurred in kids lives. Many of their friends explain to us how it effected them being there friends or even part of the problem. Suicide made them feel awful. When watching this movie, it makes me feel sick. I hate seeing people and kids being bullied. Its not right, personally its disgusting. Bullying occurs everywhere and happens all the time, I would hate to know how those people feel and felt when being bullied and thinking all those terrible thoughts. In the book “Speak” all we know so far is that everyone for some reason dislikes the main character. Many kids talking about her behind her back and making fun of her.

  36. The title “Bullying: Words Can Kill” was chosen because some people committed suicide because of how severe their bullying was. The title is very effective because many bullies do not actually know how much their words hurt. how much their actions hurt others. The viewing presented facts. The laws and lawsuits relating to the issues was facts as was what was actually happening. The viewing is a representation of reality because these things are actually happening and they will not be stopped unless everyone comes together to solve a massive problem. I found the video extremely sad because people are killing themselves over other peoples desire to raise their own self esteem at the expense of someone else's life. In "Speak" the girl has low self esteem also.

  37. Nick Nelson Period 6- The title "Bullying: Words Can Kill" was chosen because bullying can get so bad that some victims find suicide as a better option which one kid in the video did. It was effective because it shows how intense bullying can get. Some facts in the video were when they showed what their situations were like and what happened to them. The way people felt and thought about the bullies/victims were their opinions. This was a representation of reality because this is happening all around the world, all the time. People are killing themselves because it's getting so bad. I felt terrible about what is happening. I reacted this way because no person should be treated this badly because of their race, gender, size, age, etc. In "Speak" you can tell that nobody likes the main character and soon enough in the story she is probably going to be bullied this way.

  38. Jackie Dalfonso-period 6. The title "Words Can Kill" was chosen, because in this video, they talk about all these kids being bullied, whether it was on the Internet, or at school. Some of the kids committed suicide because they could not take the verbal abuse any longer. Yes, words can kill, because it could drive people to insanity, and make people hurt themselves, because they don't know how to handle it. Yes, it showed facts and opinions; the facts came from the parents, and how there children were upset, and how they killed themselves. All the living bullied children, gave there own opinion about how they felt they were being treated. They felt miserable, but they got help, the surviving children. This view is a representation of reality, because everyday thousands of innocent children are bullied, and it needs to end. And that's the basic message of this. I felt from seeing this, very angry, and I can't believe the country let's this happen everyday. I feel for those kids. You should make fun of someone for there sexuality, religion, gender or age. It's wrong and there should be a law against bullying! And I hope it's gets past. There's enough madness in this world. I feel this way, because I don't think it fair that people have to put up with this everyday. They need to get more help, and help should listen carefully and deal with it. In speak, Melinda is being ignored by everyone because of something that happened to her. In this case it's very simile to normal cyberbullying and bullying, because people are gossiping and making of fun of her, all because she made a small mistake. They know half the story. In bullying , they don't get a chance , or even care what the victims side if the story is.

  39. Gabriella B period 3- The title was "Bullying:Words Can Kill" and I think it was a very effective title for this special. Many victims of bullying get hurt both emotionally and physically, and some cases even lead to suicide. The viewing presented mostly facts. For example they share bullying stories that have actually happened. The viewing also shared the rate of teen suicide cases that had to do with bullying. I definitely think that this viewing showed the reality. Bullying is becoming a bigger issue than it ever was. In some cases it is as bad as the ones showed in the 48 hours special. I think the part about the schools getting involved is also reality because many schools now are trying to put a stop to bullying and do something about it. While watching this I felt horrible for the people who have to go through the emotional and physical pain that bullying causes them. After seeing how many cases lead to suicide I want to do something in order to stop people from taking their lives and put bullying to an end. I think I reacted this way because I have seen people who are close to me being bullied and even though I am not the victim I see what they are going through. In the book Speak, it's clear that no one likes the main character and that she is an outcast who probably gets bullied and like many others doesn’t speak up about because she doesn’t know what to say. Melinda may also not feel like she has anyone to go to about her bullying problem.

  40. Kiana Comizio Period 7- The title of the video is called "Bullying: Words Can Kill" and it was chosen because it is a literal explanation of the consequences that extreme cases of bullying can lead to. If someone is continuously bullied they suffer a great deal of pain. Sometimes the victims feel that the only way to escape the harassment is by taking their lives. This viewing showed both facts and opinions. The facts stated that bullying in schools has become a serious federal issue and laws are coming in to try to protect children from harassment and cyberbullying. The clip also showed opinions of the actual victims. They spoke out about what it was really like to being seriously bullied and questioning your existence. Their parents shared their opinions about what it was like for their children to be suffering and how they couldn't really do that much about it because no one was trying to solve the problem. This viewing is definitely a representation of reality because the facts are that more more children are being driven to bullycide. Even if in some schools its not to the point of death it is still a serious issue. If a student is being bullied it can affect how they perform in school and their confidence level. This viewing helped people get a better understanding of how big of a problem bullying really is. During the video I found it really hard to believe that kids my own age could be so cruel that they had to the ability to hurt someone to the point they kill themselves. When the victims were stating their experience I couldn't even imagine how they dealt with the bullying for so long. I put myself in their shoes and I thought about how much I would hate school and dread coming. In the book Speak, Melinda feels the same way the victims of bullying feel. They all feel that they can't speak out about bad things because no one will listen. They feel that talking about their problems will not help them it will only hurt them. In reality if you keep things bottled inside you internally it will only hurt you in the long run.

  41. Alissa period 7 said: Since the tittle of the video is "Bullying Words Can Kill" means people who get bullied have intentions to kill themselves as the video showed. This video shows how much bullying can hurt. This video showed the situations and what had happened to them. In the book "Speak" it has many simularities to the video because Melinda, the main character, is bullied. For example, her parents leave her notes to communicate with Melinda. Also, she has no friends and they all are rude and have no respect for her.

  42. I read the article when bullying goes criminal. This is important because it shows you how bullying can hurt in person or over the computer. Bullying is serious and mostly happends in middle school and high school. People who are bullyed feel trapped and feel that no one likes them. They also feel that the things that they are told are true and start believing everything that is said to them. Bullying is very serious and it is important to stop it.

The title of this movie was Bullying Words can Kill. It was chosen because the bullying was so bad for certain kids, that they couldn't take it and they killed themselves. The viewing presented facts and opinions because the victims were actually bullied and obviously this is a fact. However, people saying that the school didn't do enough to help the kids is an opinion. This is totally realistic because kids are killing themselves because they would rather be dead than live a life of a victim every day. This made me feel sad and it made me realize that bullying actually happens. When you are not bullied a lot and you don't witness it a lot, you are in denial about what it can do to people. It makes you realize what an issue this is. This can connect to Speak because Melinda is bullied and has no one to turn to. She also says that her closet was perfect for her, which leads us to believe she might kill herself.

  44. Brandon A. pd. 3 The title of the vidoe is "words can kill" and i think it was chosen because it is a true statement. Kids today are comitting suicide because they are being bullied. they are being called very mean names and they feel like they have no where to go.. its almost as if they are trapped because most of them arent going to tell a teacher beacuase, they will be like a "snitch". so they keep it to themselves and one day they cant take it anymore and they decide to take there life away because it is the only way to escape. bullying is so mean and cruel it is very painful to the victim. the video stated many facts and opinions. one fact is bulling has become nationwide and cyberbulling is becoming out of control. this is reality in todays times, because kids are getting bullied in school and online, its like they cant escape it, its tourture... the government needs to have laws about bulling in EVERY state. but most importantly the schools need to get involved with the bulling situation. it is also there repsonsibility to make sure that the kids have a safe enviornment so they can learn. when i saw this video i became angry and sad because i just want to hurt those bullies. but i was so sad to hear about these girls commiting suicide. it was a really sad thing to listen to.In the book, "Speak" the main character has started a new year in a new school and peers in the school have been talking behind her back and talking about something that occurred.

  45. Oriana Flecha 7- the title of the video is "bullying, words can kill" yes this title is effective because it tells you what it will be about and what is the main idea. yes this was like reality because to the kids who haven't committed suicide yet they tell what problems they go through and then those who have, they speak to the parents and friends. so they tell the story all over again. this made me feel bad to those i have been mean to in the past, like what if i was those last words to push them off the edge and no matter how small or how mean it was, that could have ended their life. i can connect to this because a couple days ago these girls i was friends with on fb were making fun of this kid and he drinked a gallon of bleach to try to commit suicide. this relates to the book speak because she is made fun of when people don't have the chance of talking or asking her what really happened.

  46. Sydney M. Period 3- The title that was chosen is "Bullying: Words Can Kill", which is a very accurate title for this. This was effective because it got the viewers into the mood for what the video was about and how the childrens suicides effected theirr families and friends. The video gave many facts such as how many suicides were committed, who bullied the children, and what cause them to commit suicide. The victims parents believe that their kids murders should be justified and that the schools be sued along with the bullies. This is reality because the cruel events did occur and creates an awful situation. When I watched this video I felt nauseous because I know what it feels like to be bullied and feel depressed because no one likes you. When someone is bullied karma comes into effect because the bullies that are tormenting their victim have probably been bullied sometime in their life, and when they start to bully and they make someone commit suicide if doesnt give any benefit. When I watched this video I also felt guilty because at some time in my life I haven't stuck up for someone being bullied and have been a bystander. Being a bystander is almost worse than being a bully because you feed into the bullies actions which makes torturing someone more fun with attention. Bystanders also dont do anything to help the bullied because they want to be apart of the "in" crowd at that moment. No one wants to be the snitch who told the teacher about the bullying or the one who stands up against for them. In "Speak", Melinda is being teased and mocked by the other kids in her grade because she called the cops at a party which led to many kids getting in trouble. Heather, Melinda's "friend", wants to stand up for her but she won't because then she wouldn't be liked by the other students and won't be apart of the "in" crowd. She and the other students around Melinda would be classified as bystanders because they didn't defend Melinda when she was being bullied. This is probably how Melinda gets treated on a daily basis because her parents don't seem to care what is going on in her life and she is the outcast of her school. The outcasts in high school aren't treated with dignity and basically get bullied on a day to day basis in and out of school, especially when the bullying goes online. "Speak" will show how to overcome bullying and traumas in teenagers life by showing how Melinda deals with her bullying issue.

  47. Rich H- Period 3 The title Bullying: Words Can Kill is an appropriate title because verbal abuse is worse then physical abuse and people commit suicide from being bullied. The stories were factual in their entirety but the mothers statements on the laws were opinions so this video was both factual and opinionated. This video it the reality of what happens to kids. Whether seen to others or not it always happens. I felt bad for the victims and their families because they didn't do anything wrong they just were there, and I felt aggravated because I've been bullied before. Something happened to Melinda for her friends to be mad at her and to bully her. Now her and Jessica Logan both try to fit in but can't Melinda because not that many people like her and Jessica because her new and old friends all were mean to her until she committed suicide.

  48. Emma LaBarbera Period 7: The title of the viewing is "Bulling: Words can kill". I believe that this title is a clear representation that hurtful words can drive people to commit suicide. I believe that the viewing presented both facts and opinions. The facts in this video presented are the victims experiences and how the schools deal with this problem. The opinions in this video were of the principles of different districts because some were very involved and some were not involved in helping the problem of bullying. I believe that this video is a representation of reality because in the video there were victims of bullying talking about their daily lives and how they cope or deal with the harassment. This video made me realize that this is just a few of the many many victims of bullying each and every day. I felt really horrible to know what these kids were going through and to know that even going to school was something that they avoided because of the bullies, it made me feel terrible for these kids because I know that if I were being bullied as terribly as some of these victims I wouldn't know how I would deal with it. I also felt thankful that I have friends that I can trust and confide in. I believe that both the victims in the video and Melinda don't know how to cope or deal with the bullying so they both choose to stay hidden and to not stand up for themselves. Lastly, in both the video and Melinda believe that if they were to talk about their problems no one would listen to them, but in reality if you do not have anyone to talk to and keep it bottled inside you will be forced to listen to only your voice inside your head and not others who may be able to help you.

The title "Bullying: Words Can Kill" basically means that words can be harsh, so harsh that they can drive people to not want to live anymore, resulting in a suicidal attempt or thoughts. This title was chosen because it is striking and catches peoples attention. Its a harsh title but also the truth.
This video presented facts. Bullying is horrible but its unfortunately what is going on in schools everywhere. There is always bullying, wether its cyber bullying, physical bullying etc. These kids have real life stories of their experiences of bullying and are a representation of what it is and how horrible it can be.
The video does represent reality because bullying goes on everywhere even outside of school, it is occuring everday to a bunch of innocent students who need help.
While watching this film, i experienced emotions such as sadness, anger and shock. I was upset to know that kids were actually going through this and the fact that they feel horrible about themselves makes me upset as well. I was angry because i couldnt believe kids would have the nerve to treat people this horribly and make other kids feel like they are nobodies and that they dont belong in life and are just worthless. I was shocked because of the results of kids actions from the bullying. The thought that young kids attempted or actually ended up taking their own lives is mind blowing. To me, this showed how horrible bullying can make someone feel and how torturous it must be.
I think this relates to Speak because i think that Melinda is going to be bullied and is going to feel like she doesnt belong and that she doesnt have a say in anything.

  50. Nicolette Forgione Period 3 - The title of the video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title represents how bullies don't know that their words can lead to someone's death. Instead of hurting the victims physically, they're hurting them mentally and emotionally. Sometimes, this leads to murder and the bullying becomes a crime. It's effective because it shows the viewer how serious bullying can be and what it does to people.
The viewing presented facts and opinions. It gave us the facts about how many suicides have occurred over the years due to bullying. The mom had her own opinion about her daughters suicide and she shared her perspective of it with everyone who watched. One example of an opinion in the video is when a mom said that the schools her son went to didn't care about bullying and they didn't try hard enough to stop the bullies.
This viewing is a representation of reality because it's based on what goes on in schools all over the world. In reality, a lot of people do get bullied and there's so many people who took their lives because they couldn't deal with the pain any longer. It showed how tons of the bullies moms went to the state senate begging for them to pass a law that made bullying a crime and illegal.
I felt really bad for the people who were being bullied while watching the video. I responded this way because I tried putting myself in the victims shoes and since I haven't really ever experienced being bullied before, it was hard to know how they were feeling and how they were dealing with all of it. A few connections that I can make between the video and the book "Speak" is that Melinda is being bullied at her school because she called the police at her best friend's party for a reason no one but herself knows about and for that, kids are being mean to her. A lot of the kids are pushing her books out of her hand and calling her names and talking about her behind her back and im sure that if one of the kids in the video were to read the book, they can relate to how Melinda must be feeling because they probably felt the same way she did when she was getting bullied and harassed.

The title of the video was "Bullying: Words Can Kill" which shows that although most adults used to tell children that names will never hurt, for a typical adolescent these 'words' are sometimes taken straight to the heart. The documentary had accurate facts taken from teens who were victimized online or at school through bullying. However I do not agree that this is entirely the bully's fault. Most bullies have family issues at home and they may only bully other people because they do not know how to deal with all their anger. The bully and the victim both don't know how to express themselves in a safe manner. It is also the victim's choice to end their own lives so they should also take responsibility for their actions instead of having everyone assume that the victim was completely innocent. I do admit that most of us aren't exactly innocent. I myself may have unintentionally hurt someone's feelings by my word choice. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. As much as we'd like to pretend that all of this isn't real, it is. We are shown the truth and nothing but the truth. Watching this, I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary for these kids because I feel I can compare to them seeing as I have gone through a similar depressive state as them and I also have done things to myself or am doing things to myself that I may not be proud of in the future. In Speak, Melinda deals with a situation similar to these teenagers which lead me to think that it is a very down to earth book. Throughout her freshmen year she is constantly called names, teased and ostracized by her ex friends. This book ends rather happily as Melinda discovers her way to express her emotions, but this sometimes isn't the case in real life. Above all, I think some people going through this would be able to feel a little better about themselves if they read Speak, but some won't gain anything from this book considering that it is fictional and therefore doesn't exactly show proof that life, actually has happy endings.

  53. Michelle Aguirre (per.3)-The title "Bullying: Words Kill" was chosen because bullying is leading so many teens to take their own lives because they can't deal with it. It is effective because it's true, and it makes sense. Bullying isn't something you can just take for granted; we all have to be aware that small actions or things we say can really hurt someone inside becuase it all piles up in the end. The video showed both facts and opinions. It showed us a real-life situation that happened, with the emotions and thoughts of everyone. This is a reresentation of reallity because these things happen everyday to people we might interact with everyday, and we don't even notice. I felt horrible watching this becuase this means that theres people out there that are suffering inside, while no one can see it. I wish I could talk to and help anyone who needs someone because sometimes all you need is just someone to listen to you, but unfortunately sometimes they feel keeping it inside is better becuase they think others don't care. In the book Speak, Melinda was insecure about herself and didn't know how to express herself and believed that no one cared about her thoughts and feelings so she barely spoke at all. This relates to the video because it's what happens when you get bullied. She didn't know how to handle her problem, so she stayed quiet instead.

  54. Harrison S. (period 7) The title of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill". This title is effective for the story. This is because the story tells about kids that have been bullyied so bad that they committed suicide. The story tells the facts about how people have been bullied and the emotions that they went through. In this episode it also shows the facts about the lawsuits that parents have against teenage bullies and against the school for millions of dollars. Two of the parents have also taken a bill to the Ohio state legislature to have harsher penalties against child bullies. In reality this is a real problem, "all schools have a bullying problem" according to the principle of one New York state school. Many schools do not want to admit the bullying problem that they have. During the video I felt horrible for all of the kids in the video. I feel that the bullies should be punished for what they have done. Being bullied can have lasting psychological effects on a child's development and how they act in life. This story relates to speak in the fact that they both deal with bullying and how kids in middle school and high school can feel and how they may react to certain situations. The main character in Speak is Melinda and the main characters in the movie are kids fom all over the nation, these kids are very alike because they have all been bullied and have similar feelings. In both stories parents and administrators are neglecting thefact thy the kids are being bullied.

  55. Sam l. period 7, the title of this video is "Bullying: Words can kill" This title is effective to the story because the kids who are being bullied are committing suicide. The words the other kids are saying are hurting them to the point that they take their own life. It presented facts about the kid’s lives and the statistics of deaths due to bullying. They also interviewed people to get their opinion on the rising amount of bullying. It’s a representation of reality because it’s showing the truth of bullying and not sugarcoating it. It makes me feel sad to watch this because I know this is our next generation and it can only get worse. This is similar to "speak" because the kids are being neglected and the bullies are not being punished. The adults in both stories didn’t know what to do or where to turn.

The name of the video is called “ words can kill” the tittle was chosen because there is a bunch of kids that are called names said mean things to… this is a great tittle because it goes very well with th stories. The kids don’t get bullied physically but they are called words with is as effective as hurting someone. This showed alo of facts aout what their goal was of showing this docimentary. This gave me a very good opinion of how much I hat bullying there is no such thing in a school not having bullying problems, every school does and oiur high school does have a bullying probleme. I know that I have been bullyed befor from our class mates. This shows a big reality in the high school and I tink it is a great thing of what the people are doing to stop bullying but personaly bullying will never stop. Befor bulying was somemean word that’s it but npow bullying can lead to suicide. That is just horrible, the video goes with the book speak because in both those storries there is both harsh words. People lare called names.

  57. Carly Rutkovsky period 7. The title of the of the video we watch was "Bullying: Words can kill." I believe this title was chosen to show viewers that words can be as powerful as knives. This title was most definitely effective because it displays the severity of bullying in our society these days. The viewing showed facts and statistics about children who have commit suicide due to bullying, which is now being called "Bullyside." It also presented opinions from kids, teachers, and parents who were/are victims of bullying, are trying to prevent bullying, or their child killed themselves because of bullying. The video clearly shows how out of hand bullying has become and is not stretched in any way to make it more of a "Hollywood Documentary." The facts, opinions, and tears of those involved in the making of this video represent the thousands of kids who are enduring the same thing on a daily basis. While watching this video I felt very upset and moved by how harshly the kids were reacting and how far they would go to make it stop- even ending their own lives. I feel that I reacted this way because, everyone has been put in the situation where they were bullied, but I could never imagine wanting to commit suicide because of it. It was very unchartered territory. You always hear in health class about cyber bullying and kids killing themselves, but not in great detail because it's such a touchy topic, but I believe we finally got to go beyond the surface and got a better understanding from watching it. In the book Speak, Melinda is judged by everyone, even people who never knew her. I do not think it is fair for people to judge those who they do not really know. In the video, Johnny is made fun of for her sexual orientation by people who never took the time to get to know him- they only made fun of him for what everyone else said about him.

  58. Tory T. Period 6- The title is bullying:Words Can Hurt. It was probably chosen to prove a point that the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is no longer true. The title is effective because it gives precise meaning to the documentary through the title. The documentary shows different opinions. When the guidance counselor talked to the interviewer, she said that most parents don't necessarily believe the level of bullying their kids might inflict to another child. That is one opinions. It also shows facts, like the laws that are passed against bullying. This documentary showed vivid reality. Bullying is a serious thing, that at times goes unnoticed. It makes me upset to see documentarys like this. I wish there was a way to stop all forms of bullying but unfortunately that is not possible. In speak Melinda is bullied and judged because she called the cops at a party. This connects to the video because sometimes kids aren't able to get their stories heard, and are judged based off of rumors.

  59. Katie Stevens. Period 4-The title of this video is "Bullying: Words Can Kill." The title was chosen to demonstrate the few words that someone enounces to another, can lead that person to pysical and mental actions. The title of this video was very effective. The title was effective because it reaches out to people and gives them the chance to understand that not only actions affect someone, but the words that someone says, which torments another.
The video represented opinions throughout. The opinions that followed were about how every single school has a bullying problem in any way or form. Another opinion that formed throughout the video was that bullying cannot be put to a stop. Not every single person will put an end to the violence in words and actions, however, its a good chance to start enforcing new rules and new ideas to put an end to some bullying.
This video exemplifys the real life situations many kids feel and deal with everywhere. These are just some kids, however, if you think about it, probably everyone has been bullied before.
Watching this video made me feel doleful. To be honest, i've never really thought bullying was this bad until this video. I never realized how bad the actions are or what the victims are thinking about in their spare time, debating whether or not to kill themselves, because I luckily have never seen or been in a bullying situation like this before. From this video, it made me realize that I dont know whats going on through another persons head and I also do not know their previous stories following them. I would never want to be known as someone who put another person into this position.
This video, "Bullying: Words Can Kill," and the video, "Speak," both have connections with each other. One connection that follows would be the approaching of an adult about bullying or problems. In the video, "Bullying: Words Can Kill," the victims explain how bringing the problem to an adult can lead to more harrasment. The bullies know they will get into severe trouble and would take out all their emotional and physical anger on the people who snitched. In the video, "Speak," the protagonist, Melinda Sordino, also keeps her emotions and anger held up inside and chooses not to narrate it to anyone. She feels like nobody wants to hear it and everything will just turn out worse.

From watching a video named Words can kill it has really opened my eyes on how much it hurts to be bullied and you never know what that persons going through until you step into there shoes and see how it feels. For an example in the video one girl said it hurts just as much as drowning. From watching the video it really made my feel as if i was in the persons shoes being bullied lost with now were to go because you feel every one has turned ageist you.

The title was chosen because many cases of bullying can lead to sucide. People talk to you face to face, online, text, ect and they verbally attack you and when people are telling you to kill yourself or making fun of you to the point where you believe death is the only option, some people just kill themselves, that’s why the tittle is words can kill. The viewing presented facts that were mostly very harsh and upsetting to hear. One fact was that bullying is very serious in some schools and some schools don’t take care of it when they need to. That is a fact because bullying needs to end because it affects childrens lives forver. When kids look back on their childhood as adults and should have happy memories, but kids who were bullied will have bad ones. Another fact was that bullying is in all schools.the bullying might not be as serious in some schools but in every school there is always a little bit of bullying. Even in HHS there is bullying, sometimes you see someone standing alone and people calling them names or someone you play around with but they take it seriously. Yes the viewing is a presentation of reaility because bullying takes place in all schools, even in HHS there is bullying, sometimes you see someone standing alone and people calling them names or someone you play around with but they take it seriously. While watching the video it was upsetting because no kid should be treated the way the kids in the video were, even if they are weird, ugly or fat, everyone should be treat each other the way they want to be treated. The video and the book Speak are both very similar in many ways. One way the two are similar is because in both story and video one girl is picked on and judged because of one thing. In the video the boty was judged and picked on for being gay and in the book the girl is picked on for calling the cops at a party. Another way they are similar is because the people in the video and story are both depressed because of bullying. In the video the boy tried to kill himself and in the story the girl is showing signs of depression by not taking care of herself. Annnnnnnnnnd, that’s it.

The title of the video was called , “Bullying: Words Can Kill” because it’s true. I think that the creators of the video chose this title because, people can be bullied so much they can be put to death. The emotional pain that is just locked inside of somebody for so long can cause one to harm themselves and even commit suicide. To show the viewers that this is not just ‘made up’ the makers of the video took stories of real life people and interviewed the victims or causers of the problems to show that intense bullying DOES happen and people DO get hurt. While watching this I was actually not shocked at all by the victims reactions to people bullying them because I have been in situations like that before. For example, at my old school I had many online bullying issues. I felt suicidal everyday just walking in the building. When I saw the kids in the program I really wanted to reach out to them and talk to them and vent, which was really hard because I didn’t personally know them. Also , the information included in the video reminded me of Melinda from Speak because she was being bullied and nobody is reaching out to her just like the children/teenagers in the video that we viewed in class.

  64. The first observation I can make is about the title. The title brings to mind strong images of hurting, pain and suicide. The title makes the viewer feel a strong emotion of sadness and bitterness because it makes a connection between bullying and death. Many people have been bullied or have seen bullying happen. The title connects with them and makes memories bring up of what has happened and the viewer's actions with bullying. The next thing I noticed about the film was the way that it was first-hand accounts. The people being interviewed were real people. They were not actors. This was their real story and what was actually going on in their lives. The stories told of what these kids endured are terrible. I cannot fathom that rational humans would intentionally want to abuse other people like this. Bullying is a cruel and twisted crime. The inhumanity of bullying is astounding. People should not have to live through days of torment and be forced to relocate to new places in order to hope for a second chance at having a decent childhood. It is unjust and should be inexcusable. The unfortunate part of our society is that it is often ignored and treated like a minor inconvenience instead of the major threat that it is. Bullying should be the main focus of schools in order to help these children not be alienated by their peers. The actions of bullying is a nonnegotiable crime on basic human rights and should be treated as such. I am glad that Harrison is putting so much emphasis on bullying in its curriculum so the problem shrinks and lives are saved.
